You know how annoying it is to get game request to play games on Facebook. Imagine if Carb Crush were a game that you could just ignore the alerts to come play.
Here we are trying to get our healthy on and Carb Crush is sending us invites all day errrrrday! Office Potlucks, Pizza Day, Birthdays, Bae got promoted etc. We decline the request then eventually give in and then go HAM! We eat the donuts, the cake, the bagels, the entire basket of Red Lobster Cheddar Buscuits! #shameless Then the vicious cycle starts all over again and again.
So what are carbs anyways? They are sugars & starches. Carb Crush is not a fun game to play when a diva doesn’t have the rules, because if we eat too much we store fat if we eat too little we binge eat. It’s a fine line of eating the right carbs along with a balanced diet.
What do carbs do? They provide a diva with energy and that energy is either stored as fat or burned as fuel. If we eat too many it raises our blood sugar and stores carbs as fat. #notagoodlookforadiva
So why bother to play Carb Crush? Foods that have carbs also have minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and other micronutrient that we need to well you know, live. It’s best to eat carbs that are high in fiber because your body will digest them slower and keep your blood sugar on rock steady on cruise control instead of the ups and downs of a roller coaster!

Hey Divas!
This past week I celebrated my birthday, my 38th Birthday. I remember being in my 7th Grade English class and my teacher at the time was in her mid to late 60’s, it was the first day of school and she had mentioned that she had a son and he was 38 years old. I thought to myself wow he’s OLD!!!! WOW she has a 38 year old son!?!?!? It’s even harder to believe that this was over 20 years ago! I’m not sure why but my 12 year-old self resonated with 38 being old as dirt!
Now that I actually am 38 … little did I know how YOUNG her son actually was! It’s not that old and not so bad LOL! I didn’t plan to do anything for my B Day this year just wanted to coast a bit not really in the mood to celebrate; a random birthday turned out to be one of the BEST Birthdays that I have had in a reallllllly long time!
It was in typical Vegas Fashion my friends took me out to First Friday Arts Festival I have been dying to go since it started I don’t know how many years ago and I never seemed to have made it out there! Excited that I FINALLY made it! We watched an amazing artist perform LIVE Michael Jackson Art, we were entertained by Cock Roach Theater Company with a 10 minute mini play. We then wrapped up the evening with Vegas Marilyn whom we met at Mermaids for a night cap! It-was-awesome for those of you who don’t know I am a HUGE Marilyn Monroe Fan and it was quite the treat to chat it up with her!
On Sunday my friends treated me to a fabulous dinner @ KOI in Planet Hollywood the food was amazing and delicious! The restaurant later turned into a nightclub and we danced the night away!
I’m so grateful to have fabulous women in my life whom I sincerely consider as my sisters. True friendship is not easy to come by there are people who claim to be your friend only for you to find out that they will through you under the bus in a hot minute if the situation permits, run off with your man, or constantly try to one up you. I’ve seen it and been through it I’m here to say that true friendship is truly a rare and precious gift that you have not only on your birthday but throughout year and years to come!

Hi Divas!
Life can get in the way of reaching our goals but we can not let that stop us! This past week I took my workout up a notch by including weight training into my work out routine.
What I am learning is that a new lifestyle will eventually break bad habits.
My wellness journey is a work in progress. Once I shifted my focus from I got to lose x amount of pounds and trying to figure out what to eat, once I began to just focus on exercising consistently, my body began to crave healthy food and no longer wanted the junk. Every now and then I will eat something sweet or fried but as my eating habits change my body demands healthy food. My brain, well that is a different story.
A diva was still trying to get her grub on. Yoga would not allow me to eat junk because when I did my body would pay for it BIG TIME!
I would get my ass kicked in class! I would feel depleted and exhausted after class instead of feeling vibrant and having tons of energy #notagoodlookforadiva
Getting physically active is breaking me out of bad habits it wasn’t overnight but over time my body no longer wants the crap it wants the healthy stuff. I want to drink water and not juice. I want to eat fruit and not candy.
I challenge you Divas this week to start breaking those bad habits & refocus on fitness! Take a walk, take a class, go for a nature hike whatever you do get active!

Hey Divas!
You know I love goals. Goals carry us through when the going get tough and the tough get going in regardless of what we do.
In lifestyle change focusing on that magic number has caused me more grief than I don’t know what over the years. It’s lead to yo-yo dieting, feelings of guilt and shame when I did not reach my goal and worse going back to my old ways my old patterns when I gained back. I’ve had lofty weightloss goals in the past and that has only led to feelings by being overwhelmed and little by little fall off track and eventually off program #notagoodlookforadiva
In short I ended up getting completely frustrated and ended up quitting. #flybyjuly is about shifting focus from the scale to being healthy! There are so many benefits beyond the scale that we get from working out I have so much more energy I feel beautiful and strong. I am proud of my body.
Once I shifted my goals to health goals it has been a complete lifestyle change years in the works but little by little I’ve changed my food choices I am more aware of what I put into my body and understand the value of proper nutrition. I started my wellness journey officially 5 years ago I am no where close to were I want to be but I am getting there progress makes more progress 🙂
If you still have the urge to get ” Skinny ” why not shift your focus to a dress size instead of weight because weight goes up and down when gaining muscles from working out so don’t be so hard on yourself dear diva!
Once I started to feel my clothes fitting a bit loser it has given me motivation to keep going.

Hi Divas!
I haven’t forgotten about you been slow on the blog as it’s been a busy couple weeks! I had decided to have an official re-launch party to Celebrate #flybyjuly365.It was going to be a Fabulous Pool Party! I had everything planned out invites out menu planned bought all the food & festivities planned out… the day started out gorgeous birds singing then the day turned dark and darker and darker.
I just purchased 5 bags of ice and as I’m carrying them up the stairs I’m thinking it will lighten up. It gets darker. I check the weather forecast and expected rain and scattered Thunderstorms!
I’m not trying to buy flowers because a diva got zapped in the pool! #notagoodlookforadiva needless to say I was disappointed.I was looking forward to reconnecting with my girls and having and all out BLAST! I ended up cancelling the party and notifying all of my guest I was expecting a really good turn out but you know the weather is the weather.
#Tip Have a Plan B
