Top 3 Behaviors To Help Curb Over-Eating

February 15, 2012

Hello Beauties!

Do you sometimes find yourself  infront of the TV set or computer hand to mouth?

Chips, Pizza, popcorn and an ice cold pop to go with a great movie?

When trying to lose-weight getting our behaviors under control will be essential to our success.

Sometimes when divas use ” magic pills ” surgerys, and work out to death, in many cases fail to address the underline problem which is our behavior.

Honestly, we can lose a hundred pounds and if we do not change our behaviors we can easily gain ever pound back if not more.

So what’s the solution?

Here are the top 3 Ways to get yourself active and get our mind out of the Doritos!

1. Get Active – This one is a no-brainer Just get some more exercise into your daily routine.  Not a gym rat? Well go for a walk maybe sign up for a sexy salsa dance class or take on a new hobby like hiking or sign up for a marathon!

Physical exercise helps reduce stress and keeps you feeling balanced so that you will be less prone to emotional over-eating.

2. Relax and Pamper yourself – This one is great for us divas because we love to take care of ourselves. Take an extra long bubble bath, maybe treat yourself to a spa day for a pedi and mani, maybe you want to go full throttle and get a full body massage!

3 Be productive and responsible! – Find something that you have been wanting to do but keep putting it off like maybe a hobby ,  a big house cleaning project like cleaning out the garage, going through clothes to donate etc.

If you start to change the external things in your life, it will be easier to change the internal 🙂

Carbs & The glycemic Index – A fatal love story

February 14, 2012

Mia The Diva

Hello Beauties!

Sad but true, not all carbs are created equal, been trying to fight it for years.

When we eat carbs our body sends the message to produce insulin to break down the food and convert it into glucose ( sugar )

When we eats foods that are typically high in fat it triggers our body to produce mass amounts of insulin and can cause our blood sugar to go up.

Once  it stabilizes the blood sugar comes down usually as quickly as it went up we are hungry again craving carbs and the vicious cycle starts all over again!

In the long run we end up eating more storing more fat and gaining weight.

Over time this abuse can lead to heart disease and type 2 diabetes as well as other degenerative diseases.

This is why some people may have diabetes for years and it goes unnoticed because the body will keep producing insulin until it can no longer and then full-blown diabetes sets in typically later in life or mid life.

The glycemic Index is designed to help us make healthier food choices easier and convenient so you can look at these numbers at a glance and  know which ones are good for you and which ones to stay away from.

The glycemic index or GI describe the difference by ranking carbs according to their effect on our blood glucose levels.

Choosing Low GI carbs these carbs produce low fluctuations in our blood sugar and insulin levels. It is the secret to long-term health and reducing  risk of heart disease and diabetes it  is also the key to maintain and sustain weight loss.

Low GI carbs also help you feel fuller longer and can reduce hunger so that a diva does not overeat and avoid temptation from the fridge.

It can also pro-long physical endurance.

Monday Motivation!

Hello Beauties!

Carla Curtis of our group here @ Team FBJ had discovered this motivational story on You Tube of a woman who her Health into her own hands.

She recorded her progress over the course of 1 year as she shows how she looked before in the clothes she wore before and how that fit her now.

What is so inspirational and motivating about this story and that this woman was Divalicious and Fly @ 341 pounds!

She did not allow her weight to have a hinderance on her femininity and Diva-ness.

She still lived her life! She did not hide into a whole from the world, she showed the world ” Here I am! ” This woman exudes confidence before she ever stepped foot to a scale!

She stayed Sexy and Fly;  sometimes when we gain weight some of us may sometimes become depressed because we are not at where we once were, and where baggy clothes and sweats to cover up our ample bodies and have a sense of shame, embarrassment, and even disgust looking at what we have become of ourselves.

No matter where you are today at this moment always look your best no matter what and never lose that diva-spirit that thrives inside you – never let her go.

The day you let you inner diva go is the day you give up.

Not a Good Look for a DIVA!

The Best thing about being overweight is that if you don’t like it. You can change it and add years to your life!

I think we should all take notes from Diva-slimdown and document our own journey to true health and wellness!

Enjoy!

Thank you Carla for sharing such an inspirational video with the group 🙂

One hundred pounds seems to be a bit much at first , but when we have an ultimate goal we have to break it down into monthly goals, weekly goals and daily goals before we can reach our ultimate goal.

It is important to have a vision of where you are going it’s like having a road map of the destination of where you would like to be in your life.

Creating a ” Vision Board ” is your road map to success!

Fabulous Fridays Better than Beauty Secrets!  Goal Setting

I’d rather be a failure at something I enjoy than a success at something I hate.

-George Burns

Problem:

The Key to happiness is not strategizing how to get that corner office or the next” promotion”

Solution:

Create a roadmap for living in a more meaningful and fulfilling way, whatever that may be for you. You must define that. You must fine your WHY out of LIFE.

What makes you tick. What motivates you. What drives you. What would you do for free if money was not an issue?

Think about it.

Let’s write down some goals!

1. Lessons from your Past – write down your five past accomplishments you love thinking about.

2. Brainstorm like crazy! – Set your phone clock to 10 minutes and write down everything you want to do in your life write down whatever comes to find set your brain free!

3. Reflect on Regret – Ask yourself  out of your life list you created in step 2 ask yourself which one of these would you most regret if you did not pursue it 5 years from today.

Whatever you discover that will be your goal, your motivation, and what will keep you going.

4. Take a look at your top 5 goals so if was say for example spending more time with family, or being at home with your children,  or taking a dream vacation, volunteering for a cause whatever these goals are ask yourself:

What will achieving these goals do for me?

How will it make my life more fulfilling?

In what ways would it help me create my ideal lifestyle and existence?

Write your answers down next to each goal.

Once you understand the reasons for your ambitions, you will feel even more motivated to pursue them.

So rip up that  ” To Do” List  Set some GOALS and dare to make your DREAMS become your reality….
