Hey Divas!

Welcome to a New Week!

Fail to plan and plan to fail I’m not sure who the saying is from but it holds a lot of wisdom. There is no ” winging ” it on a lifestyle change I have certainly gone full circle a couple of times and nothing changes until we change.

I think of having goals is like road map of where to go and what to do. We do not have to be at the finish line but we do have to see progress and that’s why it’s important to have goals.

This week’s challenge is to discover your goal what is your ultimate goal for your wellness journey what do you want out of it where do you want to go what do you want to do.

What will you do when you reach your goal. What are you wearing? Where are you? Who are you visiting with? What are you eating? What is your daily routine? Picture yourself already there.

I challenge you divas to really think about it envision it make it real.

When thinking of your ultimate goal keep these 5 things in mind:

1. Be specific what do you want?
2. How will you measure this goal?
3. Is your goal attainable?
4. Keep it real is your goal realistic?
5. What is the time frame that you are giving yourself to reach your goal?

What is your Ultimate Health Goal?

Why am I NOT Losing Weight Already????

Hey Divas!

It can be soooooo frustrating when the scale seems to be broken why else not would I not be losing weight? Battling with my own frustrations I had to take a step back and deep dive into possible causes, this is what I found out:

1. Hitting the gym after hittin the club – morning workouts are fabulous provided a diva got a good nights rest the night before at least 7 hours study’s have shown that those who do not get enough sleep can actually gain. So go home before the last call! Quality sleep allows the body to get the restorative rest she needs.

2. Blowing The A/C making your power bill rain! Take heart divas I am guilty as charged on this one especially living in Las Vegas. Artificial climate reduces our appetite and food intake thus slowing down our metabolism mojo! So let’s put on our big girl pants and take a little heat! My A/C had actually went out in my car and your girl is Glow-wing! Lemme tell you!!! A little discomfort can round out those lady lumps and junk in the trunk! glam it up and use a fan in your home act like you are on a photo-shoot!

3. The Finale Chocolate has been discovered as an antioxidant! Cacao in chocolate has been found that it can lower blood pressure and reduce heart attack risk diabetes and dementia possibly even prevent cancer and stroke. There is a HUGE difference between Cacao and a highly processed chocolate candy bar! Look for bars that have at least 65% Cacao and save the M&M’s for treat day 🙂

The ” 90/10 ” Rule

Hello Beauties!

In addition to being fabulous, a lot of our lifestyle is structured around what we eat. In weight management food is very important.

People can work out for hours and hours, cardio and power walk, run themselves to death sweat out in saunas only to get frustrated when just ” water weight ” comes off and never really seem to lose anything.

Such a shame after a Diva has sweated her hair out and no results!

In managing weight it’s 90% of what you eat, and 10% of exercise, so let’s check out how our diets compare:

The American Cancer Society has developed guidelines to help you reduce your risk for cancer and other ” lifestyle ” illnesses like heart disease and diabetes etc.

Did you know that scientist estimate that 35% of all cancer deaths may be related to what we eat?
We don’t need to be buying flowers for any divas anytime soon so check out these steps listed below to help get us started on the path to eating clean.

* Avoiding Obesity ( weighing more than 20% or more of your target weight standard based on your frame and if you are small or big boned )

* Eating fewer foods that have high cholesterol levels.

* Cutting down on fat intake – primarily from animals that come from meat and dairy products

*Eating bulkier, high fiber foods like veggies and whole grain breads and cereals

* Eating at least 5 servingsof fruits and veggies each day especially those rich in vitamin A and Vitamin C.

* Consuming moderate amounts of salt cured, smoked, foods like bacon, ham, and smoked fish.

* Don’t blame it on the alcohol! LoL limit your intake if you drink at all

* Cutting down on salt

* Reduce intake of sugar

* Reducing fat intake

* Choose food items with less than one gram of fat per 30 calories.

* Keep saturated fat ( found in animal products and packaged foods ) less than 10% of total calories.

* Calculate the percentage of calories from fat by ( amount of calories x .30 = number of calories from fat )

If you need help on deciding what to eat and how much of it use The Food Guide Pyramid.
