When you make a decision. That is your truth.

I decided early spring and really started to get focused and serious about my health and overall wellness over the summer. I decided to chronicle my journey since July 1st

l’ve been low key about it because l didn’t want the judgement and criticism but realized our stories do not happen to us they come through us and it’s my responsibility to share my story.

I’m 43 years old and lost my Mom to complications of diabetes. Her body literally stopped working and shut down in 11 days from being admitted to the hospital.

She was 53.

I think about her lifespan and now I’m in this stage of my life l can understand how young she was.

I was going down a path of my own health complications sleep apnea, high cholesterol, prediabetes, and obesity. Don’t let the Fly fool you. I fooled myself in ignoring the severity of my lifestyle by not taking control of my health into my own hands.

I didn’t want to accept my Mother’s death and what truly caused it. 18 years later l experienced a breakthrough in therapy and am able to move forward after holding onto grief for so many years.

My only regret is that l didn’t go to therapy sooner but ironically l was in therapy at the time of her death. I was a much younger diva, in my twenties and honestly just wasn’t ready to do the work.

I stopped going shortly after she died. I learned back then which is true to this day that sometimes the mind & body will block out trauma for survival.

In April of 2021 l started to focus seriously on my health this past spring. From April – August my LDL cholesterol is down from 141 – 123 and my AIC is one point away from being out of pre-diabetes’s 🙌🏽

I still have a quite the journey ahead but today, I’m here. I’m healthy. I’m still standing.❤️

Even though it has taken me a lifetime later to pull myself together; the journey along the way has been priceless. My growth and development as a human being has been far beyond anything l could have ever imagined for my life. As painful as it has has been its its also been very beautiful and l wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I use to think of success as things that are nothing more but social status but the true success of life is knowing yourself, giving yourself grace, doing the things your heart desires AND you have truly lived once you can truly say. I Love Me ❤️and live a life that honors that love.

Self love is the epitome of self care.

Mia The Diva

Hi Divas!

This week l had the good fortune of lucking up and being gifted a trampoline by a neighbor who no longer used theirs it’s basically new and in great condition!

I’ve been wanting to get one for a minute but they are sold out in a lot of places the good quality ones. Everyone keeping active with everything going on.

Bouncing Provides Low Impact, Safe Cardiovascular Exercise!

It’s great for a home workout because it doesn’t take up a lot of space and it can help you get the that heart rate and break a sweat! I’ve attached 5 top benefits of gettin your bounce on dear diva!

1: lncreases Detoxification and Cleanses the body. It’s a “ weightless” exercise jumping and landing so the shift in gravity benefits every muscle and cell in the body and sets your lymphatic system on fiya providing huuuuuuge benefits. Huge.

2: lt helps reduce cellulite! Yessss divas it helps with that lil extra. It helps stimulate the thyroid gland to start cleaning itself and the whole lymphatic system of stored fat! Booooom!!!

3: lt lncreases Energy! Who needs more of it? It increases oxogen circulation which in turn leading to increased cell energy. Yasssssss. It increases biomechanical stimuli which means that gettin your bounce on is more beneficial to your body than running and doesn’t put pressure on your joints.

4: Reduces body fat! It firms your thighs legs, abs arms, and hips. Bouncing promotes fat loss. Extra Fat? girrrrrl bye when you bounce!

5: Fly 5 it improves the effects of other exercises so if you’re a diva just out there gettin it in it’s a great addition to your work out routine bouncing with other exercises is a form of strength training and weight lifting! Get it Fly n tight Divas!

Embrace the Season you’re in

August 4, 2021

Mia The Diva

Hey Divas!

We have all kinds of seasons throughout our lives. We only have and will always have the present season.

We’ve had a season of making mistakes, a season of doing everything “ right “ a season of being all “ wrong “ a season to be better and do better.

It’s not complicated. It’s just a matter of knowing the season you’re in and embracing it dear diva.

I’m in a season of being perfectly imperfect. Perfection has not brought me what l truly desire out of my life. When you know better. You do better.

I think about the mistakes l’ve made. I think about the things l’ve done right. The things l’ve done wrong and how l can do better.

Embracing this season. Embracing this journey.

Hello August! Why l Fly

August 2, 2021

Mia The Diva

Hi Divas & Hello August!

New month new goals. So in short l was doing the extra most over this past year and a half or so during quarantine. I started to get serious about weight loss last month and to really focus on my health and all around wellness. There’s much life l have left to live and l want to be in the best shape possible to enjoy it.

I look at my face and see my mother’s face. I’m 43. She was 53 when she died from complications of diabetes. The older l get l the younger she looks. It’s not too late for me. I can turn this around. I was going down a path of feeling numbness in my legs and my fingers.

I’ve reached the highest weight of my life. I became depressed because l was ashamed that l allowed myself to go this far. Then l remembered l’m a Diva first and foremost always. I keep a smile on my face because I still have my body. I still have my mind. I still have my health.

Ironically, I’m passionate about nutrition. I really deep dived into it over the years after starting my blog. I’m grateful that l have the knowledge to know what l need to do to take care of myself and get back on track while working with my doctor and nutritionist.

Having professional help will hold me accountable to my goals and connect the dots.

Smile. Even though your heart is aching

Hi Divas,

About this week.🖤
It’s been a tough one.

When those close to me hurt. I hurt. When a loved one is lost there really are no words of comfort that can be offered. Only your love and support.

Many of us are losing our loved ones primarily our parents. A change of the guard. It’s a part of life but losing a parent is losing a piece of your identity. We revert back to being a child in that moment no matter our age. When l lost my Mom almost 20 years ago l thought l had this death and grief thing down. I was painfully wrong.

Losing my second parent in 2018 almost took me out. The emptiness l felt was insurmountable. My father and l were extremely close especially after my Mom died we leaned on each other.

I learned that l had a lot of unresolved issues that came to the surface after his death. It has been my greatest blessing thus far of discovering who l truly am and what l’m made of.

We never truly grow up until our parents are gone.I am grateful and blessed to have had amazing parents who did their very best providing me the tools to succeed in life. My greatest lesson l learned from them was simply observing how they lived.

When l see the post on my timeline of loved ones lost take heart that your pain is felt and that you are not alone. We will all lose someone near and dear to us at some point in our lives but know that ironically these experiences bring us closer to ourselves.

We are not from our parents but we do come through them in this life’s journey. It took me some time to grasp that concept.

Every season of life will require a new you. The most valuable words of wisdom was from my Grandfather.

He died at the age of 86 twenty-five years ago. One of his last words were “ Just when you figure it all out, it’s time to go.” I was young and did not truly understand this concept until now.

There is no rush to get it all right or figure it all out. I’m patient in allowing my life to unfold…
