Hello Beauties!
In addition to being fabulous, a lot of our lifestyle is structured around what we eat. In weight management food is very important.
People can work out for hours and hours, cardio and power walk, run themselves to death sweat out in saunas only to get frustrated when just ” water weight ” comes off and never really seem to lose anything.
Such a shame after a Diva has sweated her hair out and no results!
In managing weight it’s 90% of what you eat, and 10% of exercise, so let’s check out how our diets compare:
The American Cancer Society has developed guidelines to help you reduce your risk for cancer and other ” lifestyle ” illnesses like heart disease and diabetes etc.
Did you know that scientist estimate that 35% of all cancer deaths may be related to what we eat?
We don’t need to be buying flowers for any divas anytime soon so check out these steps listed below to help get us started on the path to eating clean.
* Avoiding Obesity ( weighing more than 20% or more of your target weight standard based on your frame and if you are small or big boned )
* Eating fewer foods that have high cholesterol levels.
* Cutting down on fat intake – primarily from animals that come from meat and dairy products
*Eating bulkier, high fiber foods like veggies and whole grain breads and cereals
* Eating at least 5 servingsof fruits and veggies each day especially those rich in vitamin A and Vitamin C.
* Consuming moderate amounts of salt cured, smoked, foods like bacon, ham, and smoked fish.
* Don’t blame it on the alcohol! LoL limit your intake if you drink at all
* Cutting down on salt
* Reduce intake of sugar
* Reducing fat intake
* Choose food items with less than one gram of fat per 30 calories.
* Keep saturated fat ( found in animal products and packaged foods ) less than 10% of total calories.
* Calculate the percentage of calories from fat by ( amount of calories x .30 = number of calories from fat )
If you need help on deciding what to eat and how much of it use The Food Guide Pyramid.

Hello Beauties!
Must you be ” liked ” by everyone?
Do you always want to be everyone’s best friend? Never turn down an invitation, always trying to get someone’s attention to show them how great you are by dazzling your diva charms?
Do you go above and beyond to get approval from someone at the cost of taking away from yourself and your values?
Do you feel unappreciated and become depressed if people do not respond in a certain way to all of your efforts to make them ” happy ” and ” approve ” of you?
People who can not love and approve of themselves live in tremendous emotional pain.
If you do not approve of yourself who else will?
People who reject and even hate themselves are setting themselves up for a life of misery and failure.
How do you feel about yourself?
Alot of people don’t even know because they have never taken the time to think about it.
You actually DO have a relationship with yourself and that is by far one of the most important relationship that you will ever have.
You are the one person that you will NEVER get away from.
Friendships, marriages, and family come and go weither it be by choice or when life takes it’s course but you will always be there. You will always have yourself.
If you don’t like yourself, if you don’t get along with yourself, you are setting yourself up for a life of misery and pain, not a good look for a diva.
Enjoying Life is impossible if we do not enjoy ourselves.
Make a decision today to develop a new and more positive attitude toward yourself!

Calories, what are they? Why do we need to count them anyways??? – Diva Eats Tuesday
December 20, 2011
Mia The Diva
Hello Beauties!
Calories are units of chemical released energy released to your body when you eat food.
It’s really not that complicated, it’s pretty basic matter of fact.
If you eat just the right amount of calories, your body will use up the energy released.
You will neither gain or lose weight.
Consume too many calories and well……..we have all been there; your body will store the excess in
the form of fat and we are not talking about “phat.”
If you continue to consume too many calories you will get fatter and fatter depending on your body
type you body will continue to store fat according to your body type so you may gain in the hip,
booty, thighs and stomach.
Consume fewer calories than you need and your body uses up the stored fat areas and starts you
on the path to getting ” Fly by July ”
Tips for counting calories:
1. A food journal
2. A kitchen scale and measuring cups
3. A calorie counter book.
(Make sure that you get one that includes information on protein, fat, and carbohydrate contents.)
Start today by keeping record of everything you eat throughout your day and be as detailed as
possible. So for example just don’t say you ate chicken. Write how it was prepared baked, fried etc.
and how much of it you ate.
If you don’t really know where you are at now it’s hard to change what you don’t know so just right
down everything you eat for now so you have a picture of what you are consuming.
I know it’s a pain to measure things but after awhile we will be pros!
Here is a quick way to measure food without scales and measuring spoons and cups.
(Great for when eating out )
The size of your fist = 1 cup
The size of your thumb = 1 oz.
The tip of your thumb = 1 teaspoon
The center of your palm ( no fingers ) = 3 oz.

Motivation Monday – It’s common to start a weight loss program and not finish it
December 19, 2011
Mia The Diva
Hello Beauties!
Have you ever wanted to start a fitness or weight-loss program then started it, were good for a couple of weeks or even months and then ” BAM” right back at where you started? Back to the same old eating habits, stop going to the gym, back to life as you knew it? What kept you going?
What made you stop?
It’s great to be inspired to want to make changes in your life it’s another to be motivated to continue.
Motivation has to go far beyond the immeadiate, ” I want to be a size____ ” or ” I want to look hot for ______ ” or ” I want to date again ” even ” I want to make my husband/boyfriend happy.. ” find me more attractive, etc. Dear Diva, motivation if far beyond that, nothing last forever so why not put your diligence and efforts into yourself first and then the rest shall follow.
Motivation comes from within. Motivation is what keeps you going on the days that you do not want to get out of bed. The days that you want to just give up. The days when you are so tired that your body just does not want to go any further. Motivation is what gets you our of bed, what makes you try harder when you want to give up, and what makes you want to continue to push your body further when your mind wants you to stop.
Maybe you want to lose weight and get fit becasue you want your body to be healthy and strong; maybe you want to be around to grow old with your spouse or to see your children grow and grandchildren born, maybe you want to have more energy so that you can live your life instead of sleeping it away or wasting away on the couch. Maybe you want to live a healthier lifestyle to become pregnant or play with your kids without getting winded, maybe you are battling a disease and want to fight back by living a healthier lifestyle……..maybe you just want your life back.
I can go on and on but you get the idea.
You have to think about what makes you tick? What is it that gets you all fired up inside?
What draws you like a moth to a flame? Think about it you are fighting for your Life here!
What is your life’s worth?
Think about your life, what are your values? What is your purpose? What are your goals? What are your plans?
Life goes far beyond that magic dress size.
Happiness is not a state of size. It’s a state of mind.

Hello Beauties!
Life can get complicated, sticky and tricky and sometimes even go stagnant. Have you ever felt like you were just running in circles and your life on a path to nowhere?
Setting priorities is very important to having an efficient life, but it doesn’t always have to be difficult. When you take the time to set your priorities, you’re more likely to reach your goals and reach them faster.
Who wouldn’t want that?
Follow these next 8 steps dear diva so that you can get back on the road to having an efficient life! It just gives us more time to live the Fabulous Life that we so deserve!
1. Determine Your Goals. The first thing to consider when you’re learning how to set priorities is to determine what your goals and priorities are. You might have big ones and small ones, and you may have one goal or many goals. You just need to figure out what they are and write them down if that helps you. It’s the first step just because you can’t set your priorities without knowing what you want to achieve in the first place.
2. Get Clear. Once you’ve decided on your goals and priorities, work on their clarity. State them as simply as you can. While you don’t want to leave out details, you also don’t want to be too wordy and confuse yourself in the future.
3. Learn How to Balance. Chances are that you’ve got many different goals and priorities. Learning how to balance them all is just a part of life. If you pay too much attention to one priority, your others may begin to suffer. Strive to be aware of your priorities at all times. At the end of the day or week it’ll help to evaluate how things are going for you. If something is lacking, you can tweak your schedule to make a change.
4. Get Organized. Organization is also key when you’re learning how to set priorities. There are different organizational styles that you can adopt. It doesn’t really matter what you choose as long as you’re not just leaving things up to chance. With organizational skills comes efficiency. You can eventually learn how to do more with less time, which will allow you to get to more of your priorities.
5. Realize that You Can’t Do Everything. After you get organized with your priority lists, you might be tempted to have your attention on too many things at once. You need to realize that there are only 24 hours in a day. There are things you wanted to accomplish that you won’t be able to just yet. Schedule it for another day and don’t sweat it.
6. Keep Your Focus. Strive to remain focused on your priorities. Everyone’s mind begins to stray every now and then, which is okay sometimes. But you don’t want to allow procrastination to creep up on you. Keep your eyes on your priorities.
7. Keep Your Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is very important to setting priorities. If you’re not jazzed up about your goals, you may end up losing interest. Achieving priorities and goals is very difficult without a decent dose of enthusiasm. You can keep it up by remembering what’s really important to you. If you’re working towards a specific goal, keep in mind how great you’ll feel once you achieve success.
8. Reward Yourself. It’s important to reward yourself for setting priorities and following through. If you’ve made an achievement towards a priority or goal, don’t just cross it off your list and move on to the next thing. Take some time out to reward yourself for a job well done. You deserve it!
