The lunch man died. At work the cashier in the cafeteria who I have known for years went into a coma and was unplugged yesterday. He was extremely overweight and did not have any known health issues other than being overweight no heart disease diabetes or cancer. His weight had caused for his heart to work harder and he was losing oxygen that put him into a coma that ultimately led to his death.
It got me thinking without our health we have nothing and its human nature that for most if us it takes some kind of a crisis before we do anything about our health. We already know what lifestyle changes that need to be made but when crisis strikes they seem to resurface, whether it be eating less sugar drinking less caffeine eating more veggies you know better than anyone what needs to be done. Make these changes now. Take heart divas you know better than any health professional the changes you need to make. Listen to your body, start now.

Hey Divas!
Because this is how I walk. OWN it!!!’
I remember my first fitness date so many years ago I told myself: “Today I Run.”
I made it to the mailbox.
I know many times we wanna hit the gym, join that online 30 day ab challenge, run a marathon, do a thousand sit-ups, pop in a P90x CD and ” Go Beast Mode ” take heat divas, sometimes the lofty goals although fantastic are just not realistic fitness goals to maintain when just starting out.
I have set lofty goals in the past only to end up disappointed and angry with myself for not keeping up and went right back to my X Mr. McNasty answering his late night foodie calls….as the saying goes… sometimes we have to walk before we can run.
Walking by far is the most effective and safest exercise for a diva just starting out on her healthy fitness journey. Lots of divas start by just simply walking.
Here are 5 Whys Why Walking is a great First Fitness Date!
1. It’s free no gym membership!
2. Just about every diva can do it from 2 to 102!
3. We use most of our energy walking in our day to day activity we do it daily!!!
4. Take it to the streets! You can walk anywhere the mall the office, around your house…
5. Get a pedometer! It’s an easy way to track activity a diva needs to know her math!
I’ve fought it for many years at the end of the day we have to know our numbers to lose but more importantly to maintain weightloss the daily goal to maintain healthy daily physical activity is 10,000 steps a day.
#FitTip Walking 30 minutes meets daily physical activity requirements to maintain physical activity requirements, take it easy divas you can work your way upto 10k! Rome was not built in a day!
So OWN it Diva Get Out there and Walk!

Hello Beauties!
In addition to being fabulous, a lot of our lifestyle is structured around what we eat. In weight management food is very important.
People can work out for hours and hours, cardio and power walk, run themselves to death sweat out in saunas only to get frustrated when just ” water weight ” comes off and never really seem to lose anything.
Such a shame after a Diva has sweated her hair out and no results!
In managing weight it’s 90% of what you eat, and 10% of exercise, so let’s check out how our diets compare:
The American Cancer Society has developed guidelines to help you reduce your risk for cancer and other ” lifestyle ” illnesses like heart disease and diabetes etc.
Did you know that scientist estimate that 35% of all cancer deaths may be related to what we eat?
We don’t need to be buying flowers for any divas anytime soon so check out these steps listed below to help get us started on the path to eating clean.
* Avoiding Obesity ( weighing more than 20% or more of your target weight standard based on your frame and if you are small or big boned )
* Eating fewer foods that have high cholesterol levels.
* Cutting down on fat intake – primarily from animals that come from meat and dairy products
*Eating bulkier, high fiber foods like veggies and whole grain breads and cereals
* Eating at least 5 servingsof fruits and veggies each day especially those rich in vitamin A and Vitamin C.
* Consuming moderate amounts of salt cured, smoked, foods like bacon, ham, and smoked fish.
* Don’t blame it on the alcohol! LoL limit your intake if you drink at all
* Cutting down on salt
* Reduce intake of sugar
* Reducing fat intake
* Choose food items with less than one gram of fat per 30 calories.
* Keep saturated fat ( found in animal products and packaged foods ) less than 10% of total calories.
* Calculate the percentage of calories from fat by ( amount of calories x .30 = number of calories from fat )
If you need help on deciding what to eat and how much of it use The Food Guide Pyramid.
