Don’t Let The Hard Days Win

May 23, 2022

Mia The Diva

I read post on my time line that was discussing political view points but ended with;

“ Anyway, never forget, even at your lowest point you’re living someone else’s dream.”

I have been back and forth with this blog for years. Somehow when things are off and get off track in my life. I always find my way back to this space. There is a saying that life will teach you the same lessons over and over until you learn them.

We all have to start somewhere. No matter where you are in life or for the purpose of this blog on your wellness journey you are Goals to someone out there and have a universal responsibility to show up in your life. I always joke with a friend of mine that she is “Goals” to me because she is able to wear dresses with her back out! LoL

A pivotal moment in any big girl’s wellness journey is not needing a seatbelt extender!

Do you know how many people can effortlessly fit comfortably in an airplane seat everyday who think their life and health are in shambles?

Perspective is everything. We all have our ish.

There are going to be some hard days some great days some WTF days. We are all living a version of someone’s best life but our hard days are the days that will ultimately define who we are and what we are made of.

One decision can change your entire life.

Heavily Meditated

April 11, 2022

Mia The Diva

Hey Divas,

So here we are 70+ days into meditation practicing. Shout out to Teresa, Diva Spice with a lil Chai for getting me hip to guided meditation zoning in to zone out.

Breath is life. We would die if we go more than 5 minutes or so without it. None of this life is happening without breath. Practicing meditation has taught me that.

I had done some hot yoga years ago it was my first introduction to meditation then just really started learning about it for the past year or so.

I recently started practicing daily for a little over a month now when l rise, a mid day when l can and before bed.

I’ve logged over 3k hours that’s a whoooooolllle Lottta “ Whoooosa”

I definitely needed to take a step back. I was in a space of feeling overwhelmed, resentful, and overall sense of being stuck in my life. I’ve spent my entire adult life catering to everyone and everything but me. – Not a good look for a Diva!

It left me feeling taken for granted and l felt used most of the time. I had to be honest with myself that 75% of my motivation was people pleasing. Then l woke up and realized l don’t owe anyone anything as they don’t owe me.

When we lose people in our life by death or by choice it leaves room. It leaves space. I’ve learned to embrace the emptiness l even welcome it most of the time. I ask myself ok, what’s next?

Honestly All I have to do is live and die and l plan on doing just that. Keeping it Fly n Fabulous! Of course.

Daily Meditation has given me the gift of how to fill the holes of my soul. lt has given me the gift of truly loving myself. It is the most private intimate experience to have with yourself just being present with your breath and in tune with your body. It truly means to surrender to the moment.

To my surprise l am able to meditate in as little of 5 minutes to 15 minutes. It is the ultimate form of self care, self love but most importantly self compassion.

When we love on ourselves it literally flows into every aspect of our life. The overflow goes to everyone and everything instead of us pulling from ourselves. It pulls us within ourselves. Having an awareness of self gives us choices.

To overextended ourselves and not have any boundaries is the ultimate betrayal. The betrayal of self. Anyone can turn their back on you. People will disappoint you. It’s Life. To turn your back on yourself is the ultimate betrayal because you will never rise higher than your own standards.

I challenge you to stop. To pause. To take a deep breath in of all the goodness in your life and exhale all of what is no longer serving you in your life! Lay down and line up those chakra stones and gets to breathing dear diva!

Be Healthy Be Fabulous Be You!

Namaste.

Fly Over 40! Good Health at any age

March 5, 2022

Mia The Diva

Hey Divas!

Ever-since hitting the 40+ Club self care has been such an integral part of my wellness journey. I wasn’t ready for what this decade has delivered but my focus at this point is to enjoy what is left of this decade physically, mentally, and emotionally.

So just as important as it is to work out everyday self care is just as important. Working from home these past two years and being isolated most of the time l’ve had to readjust and adapt like the rest of the world. So like the saying goes “ It is what it is until it’s not. “

This season of my life is all about connecting the dots, being intentional with my routines and mindful about my workouts.

I pay attention to my moods when l feel great and not so great. I pay attention to how much sleep l’m getting. You know grown folks ish.

I intentionally watch the news my biggest “ adulting “ moment so far.

I don’t just want to look better l want to feel Fabulous too! I made a promise to myself when l turned 40 that this is the decade that l claim my life by taking care of myself and l am doing exactly that!

It’s been challenging meeting my shift in mindset due to life ish. I’m a work in progress and still struggle to be consistent in all areas of my daily routine.

In the meantime celebrating my wins growing through my obstacles and giving myself grace during this season in my life.

Finding time to exercise

February 18, 2022

Mia The Diva

Hey Divas!

Keeping active! Like in my last post that hike was just what l needed to get back into a groove. So as l’m planning out my workouts looks great in theory and writing it down but getting out there has been a challenge with my full schedule that takes up a lot of my time.

I did manage to get out this week for a walk. I chose me first and set my schedule accordingly.

So this lead me to priorities. In all honesty health should always be first because without it we can not do much of anything.

Although l would love to hike on the regular my schedule does not make it possible to go as often as l would like and my body literally needed a full day and a half to recover.

Do More in Less Time

Being active for at least 30 minutes daily. I found out that my mini trampoline is great to get my circulation going my goal is to get in at least 10 minutes on each of my breaks throughout the day.

I’ll get up and walk for 2 minutes once an hour having a sedentary job l barely move and my body is like girrrrrrrl let’s go!!! I also go up and down the stairs take out the trash to sneak in some movement during my work day. Getting up to get a glass of water l get it in wherever l can!

Strength training is definitely an area l need to get started on that’s all for another post! Prioritizing my priorities getting into my fitness groove for now.

I hope this tips help you with some ideas to get into your own fitness groove dear diva!

Know the assignment: Chase the habits not the results

February 9, 2022

Mia The Diva

Hey Divas!

Knowing the assignment is key the grade is the result. Remember those kids who seemed to get straight A’s with no real effort that we perceived they were naturally smart?

Those kids had systems, habits and discipline many of them in sports or had some kind of passion for an extra curricular activity. It got me thinking…that it’s no different with our body and our health & wellness journey approach.

The assignment is simple but not easy.

1. Eat Clean

2. Move your body

3. Be Consistent

Plus a bonus thought 💭 Have a hobby you love because there is more to life than exercise & eating.

I remember focusing so much on the scale like it was a scribe of some sort like the change of numbers was going to do something significant in my life. When l focused on my actual efforts and actions taken is when l felt most progress not the numbers on the scale. The numbers were just a result of my efforts. I now use the scale as awareness that l’m on my game or off it.

I went hiking over the weekend and walked 9.5 miles and over 23k steps! The assignment was to complete the hike as a result l lost 3lbs but my focus was not weightloss it was l need to complete this hike. Plus there was no way we were getting out from there no cars, it was our only choice.

This was the first time in my life that l pushed my body to its’ max and it felt amazing. The hike was 9.5 miles and we completed 24,423 steps!!!

I was tired sore and walked like an 80 year old woman afterwards but also felt so strong and so proud of my body carrying me this far.

It was definitely the kick start l needed and my body thanked me for it by rewarding me with more energy after l rested over the next 24 hours.

When we finished our hike we went out to eat. l truly enjoyed my food it seemed to taste better and l truly felt like l earned it which has been a complete game changer.

I totally get the “runners’ high “ it’s an amazing feeling when you push yourself & even better when you get it with your tribe! #FlyGirlsHike #FBJFitClub
