Diva Eats&Treats Tuesday l Soy and Brain Function

Hello Beauties!

So I know we love our Soy Milk, Soy Beans, Soy Sauce, Soy! Soy! Soy!

There was a study done by a Dr. Lon White who did a 30 year study on the diets of more than 8,000 Japanese American Men who ate 2 servings of To Fu a week vs those who ate more than 2 servings a week.

They found out that those who ate more tofu were more likely to become senile and forgetful as they grew older. Out of the 26 foods studied only tofu had a big impact on brain function. The men who had a high intake of tofu not only scored lower on these test of mental ability but their brains were more likely to show signs of advanced age and shrinkage – their test scores were of someone typical 4 years their senior – not a good look for a divo! That’s why divas date younger guys, lol just kidding – ok no I’m not! 😉

So what does all this have to do with divas you’re wondering that’s a fly guy’s problem sucks to be him, what does this have to do with me?

Weeeeellllll as far as divas are concerned this study caused alot of controversy because it had contradicted other test and studies that found soy to be beneficial. That soy may fight cancer, heart disease, prevent osteoporosis and releive menopause symptoms.

The craze for soy is credited by research that have discovered that soy has isoflavones which is a type of phytoestrogen or plant estrogen. Our brain cells have little recievers on it like a Dish Network plate – this little receptors link up with estrogen to help maintain brain function.

White believes that these phytoestrogen molecule divas compete with the body’s natural estrogens for these receptors and try to take over and be the star of the show! He also says that people need to understand that isoflavones are complex chemicals that act like drugs and change the body’s chemistry.

White continues that the ” great ” things that consumers have been hearing about soy have little to do with nutrients like carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals.

” All that hype is related to the idea that soy contains other kinds of molecules that act like medicines, they alter the way our body chemistry works. ” – Dr. Lon White

The problem is that many think these isoflavones interfere with enzymes and amino acids in the brain’s memory center called ” hippocampus “ it is believed that these isoflavones block these enzymes process of going to the brain’s memory center that is essential to learning and memory.

When we have made a conscious decision to watch what we eat, exercise and change our life style – there are no                   ” cheating  ”  days – but there can ” Treat ” Days 🙂

The term cheating can trigger feelings of shame, guilt, and negative self images – not a good look for a diva! 

When divas are on a quest to lose serious weight diets just don’t work.

People gain all the weight back if not double from what they were when they first started,  once they are  ” off ” the diet.

Diets are a short term fix for a LONG term problem; and that is why they do work for the long term. 

In order to lose weight and reach your fitness goals  a ” diet ” i snot the solution,  it requires a change of  lifestyle.

A ” diet ” is great for someone who may want to lose a few pounds to slip into that holiday dress or maybe wear a bikini while on vacation etc. 

 If you can gain a couple of pounds in a month then it’s reasonable that you will be able to take it off in a month.

If you have gained 25, 50, 100 pounds and beyond – this DID NOT happen in a month while on vacation or enjoying the holidays. 

It is a developed lifestyle that can only be changed by you when you are ready to do so dear diva…..

We only cheat ourselves and shave off years of a Fabulous life  – when we have an opportunity to improve our lifestyle and choose not to.

But what I learned to do many years ago was to forgive myself.

It is very important for every human being to forgive herself or himself because if you live, you will make mistakes- it is inevitable. But once you do and you see the mistake, then you forgive yourself and say, ‘well, if I’d known better I’d have done better,’ that’s all.

So you say to people who you think you may have injured, ‘I’m sorry,’ and then you say to yourself, ‘I’m sorry.’

If we all hold on to the mistake, we can’t see our own glory in the mirror because we have the mistake between our faces and the mirror; we can’t see what we’re capable of being.

You can ask forgiveness of others, but in the end the real forgiveness is in one’s own self. I think that young men and women are so caught by the way they see themselves.

Ok it’s about well a little after 1 am and I sooooo want this wrap dress!

This is soooo going to be my reward when I have successfully completed my 5 days of RESET!

Then the boots!

Wrap dresses are so flattering no matter what your figure is.

It compliments the bust

sinches the waist

flairs out  and balances the hips

then strut it with some  ” Fly ”  Boots …

GUUUUURRRRRRRLLLLLLLL

That is why I love wrap dresses so much.

I keep looking at this dress and I keep looking at this dress…..I just see myself at an art show like in San Fran with this look …. sigh….

It’s freaking FABULOUS!
