Hair Myths & Truth
Myth: Frequent trims make your hair grow faster
Truth: Cutting ends does not make hair grow faster. Hair grows on average a quarter inch every month and it does not matter if you cut it or not according to Paradi Mirmirani, MD assistant professor of dermatology at the University of California.
Regular trims give your hair the appearance of being longer and getting rid of split ends reduces hair breakage which is what makes hair look thinner and shorter at the ends.
Every 8 to 12 weeks ask your stylist to take off the minimum needed to eliminate split ends says Matt Fugate a New York City hairstylist at Sally Hershberger.
